Search by the object, action or visual idea
Try the plain name of the object first, then explore an action or related concept if the results do not match your intention. Everyday objects, abstract shapes, decorative marks and unusual symbols can all serve different purposes depending on context. A star might represent a rating, a highlight or a favorite; a box might indicate storage, a product or a container. The label and surrounding interface determine which meaning is appropriate. If a result clearly belongs to a specific subject, another topic page may offer a more focused starting point. Keep your search phrase short enough to compare several plausible interpretations.
Turn an unexpected find into a coherent design
When you discover an icon outside a predefined theme, check how well it fits the rest of your project. Compare its stroke weight, corner treatment, proportions and level of detail with the symbols already in use. A drawing that looks attractive alone may feel out of place in a compact navigation row. Use a consistent collection where possible, or choose simpler artwork when mixing sources. Add a visible label for unfamiliar metaphors and avoid implying a special function or status that the product does not support.
